Killer on the loose
In the upcoming episode of FRONTPAGE, Irma Hasmi plays a beauty queen whose reign is shortlived.
WHEN she was told that she had clinched an opportunity to work with award-winning director Kabir Bhatia, actress Irma Hasmi was over the moon.

FRONTPAGE to be quite a challenge.
“I was really excited when I was informed about my role in the TV series FRONTPAGE. I was sure that it would be great to work with such a creative director as Kabir. I have watched all his movies ... including Cinta, Sepi, Love and the drama series Kekasihku Seru. I was practically jumping for joy,” recalled 26-year-old Irma Hasmi Ibrahim who earlier had a small role in Kabir’s Sepi. She has also acted in Cinta Fotokopi, Main-Main Cinta, Bujang Senang, Anak Mami Kembali and Diva.
“In Sepi, I had only one scene, even then the scene wasn’t really about me at all. I was hoping to gain more experience by working with Kabir and have more scenes in FRONTPAGE.”
FRONTPAGE €“ a weekly series that airs every Sunday on Ntv7 is a joint venture between The Star, Ntv7 and production house Juita Viden. The drama is about the challenges and risks journalists take and stars Bernie Chan, Tony Eusoff, Jehan Miskin, Nell Ng, Cheryl Samad and Nurakthar Mohd Amin. Each week, a different case makes the headlines in a top daily newspaper, The Voice.
However, Irma’s dream was dashed when Kabir had to pull out (from directing the episode) at the very last minute as he had an urgent deadline to complete a script!
“I was a bit disappointed but the experience was really good anyway. In fact, Kabir briefed us all about our roles and that really helped a lot.”
Irma stars in the fifth episode of FRONTPAGE entitled Queen for a Day slated for screening this Sunday on Ntv7 at 9.45pm.
Queen for a Day is about Tasha, a beauty queen who carries a title for only one day before she is brutally murdered. She is found naked and gagged in her apartment. The suspects are many. Apparently, in spite of her family’s insistence that she was a “good” girl, the police find out that there were many men who had visited her apartment in the past year.
But who among these men ended up killing her?
Irma said that even though she had only about 10 scenes in the episode, she had a great time filming. Playing a beauty queen who got killed turned out to be quite challenging.
“It was a challenge because Tasha is such a complex personality. If you ask her friends, they would say that she is a nice person. But if you look at how many men she was dating, you would think that she was a slut. To make things even more interesting, there is a girl in the beauty competition who was jealous of her.
“It is very exciting to watch how the plot thickens as more suspects are brought onto the scene.”
And in case you think Irma knows who the murderer is, think again.
“I do not know who killed Tasha. I will find out this Sunday like everyone else,” she said.
